A Non-Domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) evaluates the energy efficiency of a commercial building on an A+ to G scale, with A+ indicating a net zero carbon building and G being the worst performing.
An EPC assesses the performance of the building itself and its fixed services such as heating, cooling, ventilation, and lighting systems. The rating is calculated based on the estimated carbon emissions of the property.
A valid, up-to-date Non-Domestic EPC is legally required at the point of marketing a commercial property for sale or rent, as well as when an existing lease is being renewed.
An EPC remains valid for 10 years unless major changes impacting the building’s energy performance have been made, such as a new boiler, replaced glazing, or an extension.
